The IMM Corrosion Conference 2026, held in Malaysia, marks the 10th Anniversary Edition of this leading event dedicated to corrosion, inspection, materials, and asset integrity professionals. Since its launch in 2016, the conference has established itself as a key platform bringing together industry representatives, researchers, and technical experts to address real‑world corrosion and materials integrity challenges across a wide range of industrial sectors.
For the 2026 edition, Cetim Matcor will contribute to the conference programme, sharing its expertise in materials engineering and corrosion assessment through a dedicated technical presentation. This participation reflects Cetim Matcor’s ongoing commitment to supporting industrial performance, asset reliability, and sustainable engineering practices.
CETIM Matcor Technical Presentation
As part of the conference agenda, Cetim Matcor will present a technical paper addressing advanced approaches to remaining life assessment in high‑temperature components.
Presentation title:
Ultra‑miniature specimen approach for creep remaining life assessment and failure prevention
Speaker:
Jun Wei Tan, Senior Engineer, Matcor Technology & Services Pte Ltd
Date: 15 October 2026
Time: 8:00am – 5:00pm
The presentation focuses on improving the accuracy of creep remaining life evaluation. Field metallography replication (FMR), commonly used as a non‑destructive technique, enables the monitoring of creep damage but generally provides only qualitative indications of remaining life based on microstructural observations. When combined with conventional life assessment methods relying on minimum material properties defined in international standards, results may be overly conservative and underestimate the actual remaining life of components.
This presentation introduces an advanced methodology designed to overcome these limitations, offering a more reliable basis for creep life assessment and supporting proactive failure prevention strategies.
